Learn to Lead Climb - 3 Day

Are you looking to take the next steps to becoming an independent climber? Our learn to lead course will get you there.

This 3 day course will start off with skill refinement and reinforcement of safe systems, good gear placement and an understanding of basic climbing principles.

Day 1:
Recap tying in and belaying
Discuss modern gear such as nuts, cams and hexes
Demonstrate and practice its placement in the rock
Build belays
Set a framework for safe and solid belays (ABC and IDEAS acronyms)

Day 2:
Place gear independently
'In series' climbing
Learn to belay a second
Runner placement and management
Stance organisation and belay changeovers.
Discuss descent and abseiling

Day 3:
Build top rope belays for ghost roping
Place gear and gain peer feedback
Route choice
Lead climb with 1:1 coaching and instruction
